CHARRON MONAYE is a dynamic songwriter, lyricist, activist, poet and author that has motivated those that have been introduced to her through her emotional lyrics, and through her poetic words, Charron has given life to issues of homelessness, love, heartbreak, and racial inequality for over 10 years. Committed to sharing her story of triumph and victory, she has published her first book – My Side of the Story. A compelling tale of woman / from the perspective of a person who was afraid of being judged or misunderstood, this memoir plans to give life to that side of her life that everyone always thought they knew, but really had no idea. As a child, Charron Monaye always relied on her pencil and notebook as a way of releasing her happiest moments, deepest secrets, and hidden desires secretly, without having to be judged or looked upon as being different among family and friends. Her diary entries soon became poetic pieces that she later performed or entered into local poetry contest. Since then, she has blessed many mics, touched many hearts, and made people realize poetry is more than words in rhythmic stanzas; it is a mere expression of one's life, emotions, and experiences.
