Published author, freelance writer, and poet
William Power Bio
Born in Columbus Ohio in 1966, William grew up in the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio. William`s family eventually moved to North Georgia in 1979. William grew up in rural North Georgia and never finished high school. He came from a poor family and a fatherless home.
William struggled with alcoholism and drug abuse at an early age until he found a new way of life in 1988. Married in 1989, he was blessed with three children by his first wife and now is a proud grandfather as well. William had always dreamed of becoming a writer and a published author; however, life, business, and children took his life in a different direction.
William owned and operated several successful businesses throughout his adult life and was a self-made man. He also spent 15 years training as a Martial Artist and was a certified instructor. He retired from his career in Martial Arts in 2008.
In early 2008, his business ventures began to fail under the weight of the falling economy; he decided to pursue his dream of writing and went back to college to earn his degree in English. In 2010 he began to write his first book “Apples of Gold: A collection of inspirational short stories and poems,” published in August of 2011. William decided to give this work away to readers in the form of a free eBook to allow his readers to get to know him and enjoy his work. The book has remained in the top 10 highest rated poetry books on smashwords.com for over 6 months to date thanks to his readers.
Currently William is working on his second book, “Voices of the Heart,” which should hit virtual book shelves by the summer of 2012. He also maintains a literary blog, “Two Drops of Ink,” where he enjoys interaction with others who love the world of literature at all levels. His future goals include a fiction novel which he is currently writing (in the mystery-thriller genre). Thank you for your interest in his work.
"I have always hoped to touch the lives of others through the written word. I thank each and every individual who has taken the time to read my poetry and prose. I write from the heart and touch on subjects that are not always pleasant, but, all of us have a level of neurosis I suppose, often times, these are the ties that bind us—I love to speak the language of the human heart."
