Three stories set in Maine. Beneath the down East quiet, emotions roil and passions burn. These are tales of desire, lust, and love. Stories of fidelity and betrayal, of anger and repentance, of youth and aging, of birth and death. Includes speculative fiction within poetic prose. The first piece is a novella, The Stylite, which explores a marriage and a community. Interwoven is science fiction written by one of the characters. The result is a multilevel exploration of love, relationship, birth, death, and social connection.
The second piece, Mothers' Teat, is a short story of an abusive family and ends with a decision that must be made, whom to kill and whom to allow to live.
The third piece, Hansom Dove, is adult horror. Set on a small island and filled with both sexuality and death.
