DARE NOT BLINK is a story of devotion and loyalty, not merely to a specific organization but to the people and the ideals that comprise it. While the story takes place in the rough-and-tumble of corporate America, the high personal and professional values are timeless to any endeavor. The Old Man is dead. Langdon Elerbee, Chairman and founder of Elerbee Engineering, has succumbed to cancer. Within days, his multi-million dollar company had devolved into clandestine corporate infighting.
Dave Paige is a rising young star, a protégé of the late founder. Paige, scheduled to become Executive Vice President in the near future, soon discovers that President and CEO Jeff Wylie and his understudy Jim Ogden, have their own blueprint for gaining complete control of the firm. It also becomes apparent that the dictatorial Wylie has absolutely no plans for Paige’s continuation. Paige grimly vows that he will somehow find a way to wrest control of the firm from the Wylie/Ogden cabal that he considers contemptible, narcissistic, and entirely unworthy.
But how? The odds are stacked heavily against Paige, his cause seemingly hopeless, as if he alone were attempting to storm the fort’s ramparts.
His boss Wylie has bullied virtually all of the senior staff into submission, along with many of the company’s directors. Rather than buckle and resign, Paige remembers those qualities he had learned from Langdon Elerbee—about integrity, about loyalty, and about a single-minded devotion to excellence. And especially about courage. Paige then fights for the company he loves against the people he despises with every ounce of audacity and creativity he can gather.
Can Paige win?
