The White Girl Game

I attempted suicide after losing so horribly.  She brought me home after she fired me.  At the time I thought it was because she was being nice and was concerned.  Now I know it was to inspect my living arrangements and confirm her cruel judgment.  I am not one of those people that share at work, at least not about my private life.  I grew up the first born grandchild of nineteen.  All our parents worked and all were professionals.  My grandmother was our daycare provider and she made sure that we were being prepared for the working world.   Fifteen of my cousins are male, so I was taught from day one how to work like a man in a man’s world.  It is really not that hard, you don’t talk about home stuff, you don’t talk about much at all, and you never show any emotion at work.  I was...

A failed system, or is it?

Above is a picture of Frederico Bruno, he is accused of pushing his ex-girlfriend and 3 month old child out of a window three stories high.  He climbs down from the same window, finds a metal bar stool leg and beats her with it as she is lying on top of the 3 month old baby who broke her fall to a concrete ground.  Read that over again.  Take a deep breath.  Now who is the blame for this type of violence?  Before you go any further, let me add this too...the widow also had an air conditioner installed in it.  For real!  Who do you blame for this type of violence?  Violence has such a profound meaning.  It sure can sway any jury.  Oh did I tell you, he sliced up the victim's friend who attempted to call the police.  Yes sir!  He left them all for dead....

The Disease Called Negativity

Early Jackson

This incredibly strong strand of flu virus that seems to originate from an animal spreads like wild-fire from the shores of Hong Kong, San Francisco, Chicago and everywhere in between. Day of our lives we are only a few steps from a disease that can take us out. In recent reports on news outlets we have witnessed firsthand the dangers of bacteria and germs that find their way into our homes and on our foods. This got me thinking about another airborne disease that gets very little ‘press’; the germ of negativity! It’s a scary thought that every person we meet could...

YOU ONLY HAVE YOURSELF TO BLAME!

Being a Bald Woman during the 80s was very different, than today. Hard renting homes to a "bald person like you".  People like me without hair! Yes "bald people like me". I heard the same insult numerous times throughout the years. Each time it came with another face and another reason. The ignorance was the same no matter where I went. In the USA or overseas. Confrontations and negative responses became continuous on a daily basis. Catching buses or cabs was an event in itself, being hollered at with profanity. I was attacked in taxi cabs and driven off my destination. Approached by men who asked me "What are you, a man or a woman?" Even had police order me to get off the street, or go put something on your head. Saying "you are attracting too much attention and disturbing the peace". Wouldn't get served in restaurants or stores, so I...
