Today, grammy winning song writer and one of the fiercest EMCEEs to ever grip a mic just got sentenced to 3 months in a federal prison for not filing her taxes on time. The singer had to pay $1,006,500.00 from her 5yr career earning up to approximatley 2.3 million dollars. The sista actually paid $970.000.00 which leaves $36,500.00 left. So the government continued to put her on trial and tacked on an additional $60,000 for shits and giggles. That's FUCKED UP. But that could either be a good thing or a bad thing. I personally believe her new deal with Sony orchestrated it so she could have something to write about. Come on now...37g's! I hope she destroys the industry with her next album. Y'all forgot? This sista had many male performers scared to step to a mic. At one time she was the standard. That cannot be said for a lot of these so-called artists of today but Lauryn Hill was Queen of the mountain at one time for a long time. I said it once and I'll say it again, this is where literacy kicks in. Y'all know I'm an advocate of literacy & what it means. It's estimated that this sista's music earned 600 million dollars but she received 2.3 million. Check the facts.
"Someone did the math, and it came to around $600 million," she said. "And I sit here before you trying to figure out how to pay a tax debt?...

Here it is, a new webisode of Open Book. This webisode was filmed at the 4th Authors Literary Festival in Richmond VA. The festival was a two day event with a Friday night Pre Festival Meet & Greet Party and Saturday was the actual festival. My special guest host was Mrs. Loretta R. Walls author and CEO of Nu Cherte Publishings. Mrs. Walls did a splendid job as a first time host. I did coach her just a little bit. The event had guest speakers, and a face painter for the kids. There were 38 published authors at this event topped off with a Book Cover Model Auction and dinner date. All proceeds raised was donated to Cancer Research....
Where were you on September 11, 2001? Me? I had just came home from a 6 month Counter Drug Operation deployment in Central and South America. Yes, I was in the military...the navy. I was only home for 2 days and in New Orleans with my first wife buying food for my (step)daughter's birthday party. She was born on September 12, by the way. After the last plane crashed in Virginia I received a call from the government saying my leave was canceled and I was being deployed immediately to New York. My wife panicked in front of the Winn Dixie shoppers as they watched the news of the attack on TV. She was very upset that I had to go after being gone for 6 months. I gave her instructions on what to do if any other attacks occur. What scared me was I trained for the same attacks in Cuba earlier that year. At this point I cannot release any details of my involvement because I was forced to sign confidentiality statements on the events and investigations thats involved with 9/11. All I can say on this is my job wasn't about looking for survivors or aiding in the rescue efforts.(Hint) The military ain't for everybody, especially honest people. I was a military police officer. We do more than bring back AWOLs and drunken sailors back to the base. As a matter of fact my first five criminal cases were suicides and suicide is not even a crime. Anyway...
