Wind blows across the field
There is nothing that can shield
Stalks of wheat from swaying
Just their roots keep them staying
Firmly planted in the ground
From the turmoil all around
The husks grip with endeavour
Will this chaos last forever
Then the sudden flash above
Spreading over like a glove
Each finger touches so
Shock of lightening they know
Some will shrivel from the blow
As they burst in flame & glow
Then they just are embers left
The farmer he will be bereft
The crop that he so gently sowed
To pay the debts that are owed
So he'll have to toil some more
As he did those times before
An act of God some may say
But it's only natures way

Think of the life we live as a ladder
To be who we’re mean’t to be & do what we’re mean’t to do
We have to get all the way to the top
Each rung is a different experience or lesson
But along life’s way there are many set-backs
These set-backs cause us to go down the ladder instead of up
Sometimes we may fall off the ladder completely
Which then makes us scared to get back on it again
That’s when we need support, someone to convince us not to be scared
To help us get our foot back on the first rung
Then hold it for us while we climb back up again
Just enough to keep it steady & safe to regain our confidence & trust
Then we can make it the rest of the way up without fear of falling or slipping
Knowing that help is still at hand to support us if we need it
When we need it & the climb starts to get a bit harder again
That support we need comes from family & friends
Sometimes it may come from a total stranger
Who see’s that we need help & offers the hand of friendship
Some of us may feel we’ve made it all the way to the top already
With very little help along the way
But there’s still the risk of falling or slipping even once we’re up there
So we still need to make sure the support is there if...
Watching you leave, is so hard to do, you are a friend to me & me to youFlowers, cannot replace who you are, they're a tribute, to your life, so farThe ones that I see, are so very few, compared to the life, I know of youA garden is needed, to tell how I feel, of your life, here is the deal
The soil that's used, to plant & sow, just like the hands, of you, that I knowKeeping the plants stable & strong, giving support, when others do wrongAllowing the roots to grow & expand, then on their own, they can standTheir stems can now rise up high, reaching up to the sun in the sky
Just like thorns, on the stems of a rose, the protection you give, as it growsStopping others, who try to do harm, not really seeing, their beauty & charmThe rose buds, need more time to bloom, others destroy them, far too soonPruning away, cut down in their prime, they should be given more time
Just like the path, leading the way, then through the garden, no one will strayFrom the course, for them that's been laid, that is why, I wish you'd stayedTo guide me further, along life's road, & the troubles, that will unfoldI know you can't guide me, all the way, in my heart, you'll always stay
Your own road, I know, continues on, without you, I will have to be strongYour road, I know, will never end, the distant clouds, the...
